NATURE MOSAICS
In choosing an image from nature and using digital tools to multiply and alter it, I have attempted to create visually dynamic compositions that enhance their resemblance to traditional mosaic and textile designs. The intricate geometric patterns, the interlocking motifs, and vibrant color palettes found in Arabic mosaics and the zigzags, diamonds, and other geometric shapes echoing the aesthetic language of African textiles are on display here. There are motifs from other regions that I have attempted to suggest. The viewer may see visual elements and cultural symbolism in the intricate Moroccan tilework and perhaps the floral patterns of Chinese silk fabrics, as well as the vibrant beadwork of indigenous cultures. I have explored the interplay of light, shadow, texture, and color in striving to evoke the richness and complexity of traditional artistic practices while infusing them with my own creative vision. Through these mosaic compositions, I am using the medium of photography to reinterpret and recontextualize artwork that resonates with both aesthetic beauty and cultural richness, inviting the viewer to recognize the intersections between nature, art, and cultural heritage.
