CURRENTS OF LIFE II

Impressionism and Post Impressionism can be seen as the start of the struggle to free painting from its solely descriptive duty in order to create a new language and role providing other art forms such as photography to herald the advent of Modernism. Gauguin wrote: “Think of the musical role color will henceforth play in modern painting and art forms.
